There was the time before Tessa met Hardin, and then there’s everything AFTER... Life will never be the same. #Hessa

Tessa is a good girl with a sweet, reliable boyfriend back home. She’s got direction, ambition, and a mother who’s intent on keeping her that way.

But she’s barely moved into her freshman dorm when she runs into Hardin. With his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, tattoos, and lip ring, Hardin is cute and different from what she’s used to.

But he’s also rude—to the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, Tessa should hate Hardin. And she does—until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites within her a passion she’s never known before.

He’ll call her beautiful, then insist he isn’t the one for her and disappear again and again. Despite the reckless way he treats her, Tessa is compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath all his lies. He pushes her away again and again, yet every time she pushes back, he only pulls her in deeper.

Tessa already has the perfect boyfriend. So why is she trying so hard to overcome her own hurt pride and Hardin’s prejudice about nice girls like her?

Unless…could this be love?

It pisses me off how people are saying this book is “promoting abuse” IT’S NOT! It’s about how two young people are lost and just don’t know much about relationships YOU HAVE TO READ the rest of the series to actually understand the whole plot! I can’t argue about it not being an abusive relationship because quite honestly it is but THAT IS LIFE SOMETIMES NOT EVERYTHING IS SO BLACK AND WHITE if you get to the last book you see how much different their relationship is and not only that but in ALL books you SEE character development isn’t that the BEST thing a book could have.. books are for entertainment and sometimes even a life lesson you overly sensitive people can call it “terrible” but at the end of the day it got published and a movie is being made.. The author even said she didn’t mean for it too be that intense but she was writing for fun at first for God sake she can’t change that because it is already out there at least she’s making the movie less intense and that should mean something!

This series made me love reading. It shows that even when nothing goes right there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel and for Hardin that light was Tessa. It’s not an abuse story but simply about a guy allowing himself to be loved.

It’s exactly what I’ve been needing to read. It’s fast paced and never bores you, not even once. This is now my favorite book OF ALL TIME. It’s all those romantic movies piled into one super book and it’s fantastic.

I am a true fan of After! I remember reading the books on Wattpad and freaking out when a new chapter was posted!! While most people are saying that this story is toxic because it “promotes abusive relationships” I disagree. The characters change and they go through many things together to get through tough situations. Anyways the storyline is AMAZING! Any New Adult fan would love this book! I highly recommend! The writing style is very easy and fun to read! This book had me screaming, crying, laughing and I can’t wait for the movie adaptation!! Ahhh!
  • I definitely would recommend reading!!

This book is my favorite book ever. The author does not promote domestic abuse in relationships whatsoever. This is what many girls live through and that’s why it’s so successful!

This is fiction, people realize that right? Some women dig the “abusive” side of men as a fantasy. And that’s what this is- a FANTASY. Work of fiction. It does not promote anything, it does not teach little girls anything. Little girls shouldn’t even be reading this book, or 50 shades for that matter. Control your own children but don’t judge other people for liking a little bit of rough handling when it comes to their male hero. It’s a kink, it’s a vibe, it’s something no one should be ashamed of liking or reading. Control is a very appealing thing. To be controlled is a very appealing thing. At least to some women. And as a women, you should trust yourself to know when a situation has become dangerous. This pushes the boundaries, sure, but not all women are built the same. Take your prejudices elsewhere if you didn’t enjoy the book. But I just don’t get it, says so in the description what kind of guy he is? Don’t read if you’re “triggered” by a dominant hasty unpredictable male role. Simple as that.

The writing is horrible and I cannot believe this is going to be a movie. I can name tons of other books that deserve what this books has. This book is so cliche that I guessed the ending and I hate those types of books.
